Who We Are
Rearing2Read is a non-profit located in Hillsborough, North Carolina, with a mission to improve children's literacy through equine-assisted learning experiences and hands-on reading activities around the farm.
Countless studies have been done on the therapeutic effect that horses can have on children.
Together, learners, horses, and facilitators work to explore each child's unique road to becoming a stronger reader.
What We Do
Rearing2Read follows the Horse Powered Reading® curriculum to help students find confidence and motivation to read while also filling in the gaps in the learner's reading abilities.
Horse Powered Reading® integrates social-emotional learning with academics, allowing students to see and experience reading with their entire mind, body, and emotions by creating metaphors for the skills involved in reading. Horse Powered Reading® was created by Dr. Michelle Pickel.
